Free-choice salt and fresh, clean water should be available at all times. It is important to remember that each horse has individual feeding needs and that these needs may vary depending on season, hay quality, life stage and level of work. Consult with your veterinarian or one of our nutritionists for specific dietary recommendations.

Alam^® is the ideal solution when:

There is a need to avoid grains, such as in:

• Horses prone to founder (laminitis) or those with respiratory problems such as heaves or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

A higher energy diet is required, such as in:

• Extremely thin horses who need to gain weight quickly or horses already consuming a large quantity of grain or feed but still falling below ideal weight

Chewing is difficult, due to:

• Poor or missing teeth, a damaged jaw or nerve damage

Gut function is below normal, such as in:

• Horses prone to colic, recovering from abdominal surgery or gastroenteritis, or those with a glucose intolerance or poor absorption in the small intestine, along with aged horses whose gut function is no longer ideal

A mash is required to:

• Increase water intake, particularly during cold weather
• Mask an unpalatable medication (Add 2 parts boiling water to 1 part of Alam^®by volume to make a mash of good consistency. Allow mixture to cool before feeding.)

Dealing with HYPP-positive horses, as it is:

• Low in potassium; Alam may be fed as the total diet or with grass hay
